Summer (almost) loving

Summer loving
Living in Arizona sometimes has it's extreme downfalls. It's not even summer yet and we're pushing 97 degrees this week. I can barely walk outside without melting with some shorts and tank top on. Well, lately I've been into straw and fedora hats. They make any outfit look fabulous and so hippie-chic. Sadly I only have about 2 of them, but once I start another job and getting steady paychecks, my closet should be filled with all sorts of them. I am so excited to go summer shopping!! Hope ya'll have a lovely rest of the week.

Deliciousness

I've always been a baker (thanking my nana for that) and more recently I've been in the kitchen more than I'm at school lol. It's become my favorite place to be - just relaxing, where I can satisfy my sweet tooth while calming myself down when I'm stressed or upset. I should start photographing the final products of the treats I make, but sometimes I'm so in the moment I just kind of....forget :p I wish I had a really good camera that could really show the intricate details I put on them. Maybe that will have to be my next investment.

Most of my creations have been made out of mostly chocolate, lol, but a few weeks ago, I made this DELISH homemade strawberry lemonade. I know that's not really "baking" but I thought I'd share. Nobody in my family really drank it, but I loved it. I actually found the recipe on Pinterest - so thank you whoever pinned that! (directions at bottom)

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4  cup lemon juice (or 6-8 lemons)
  • 1 pint strawberries (hulled, sliced; about 1 box of them)
  • 24oz cold water
Directions:
  • In a small sauce pot, bring water and sugar to a simmer so that the sugar completely dissolves in the water (hence, sugar water lol). Set aside and let cool.
  • Place strawberries in blender. Process until smooth. If you want it to be super sweet, add about a teaspoon of sugar to the strawberries while they blend.
  • Combine the pureed strawberries and lemon juice with the sugar water. Stir until all is blended.
  • Pour the strawberry lemon mixture with the cold water into a large picture and stir. Serve over ice and enjoy!
